Placement methods
Fine layer: For level bases, we recommend fine layer placement with tail cement. This technique, with a thickness of 5 to 10 mm, allows a quick drying and avoids the appearance of efflorescences, facilitating the subsequent treatment of mud.
Thick layer: If the base is irregular, use a thick mortar layer and place wet terracotta pieces directly on it. This method ensures a solid fixation but requires more drying time.
For both techniques, we advise using joints of 5 to 10 mm to accommodate the natural contractions and dilations of the material. Avoid pigments on the Board to prevent spots.
Treatment and maintenance
Vetonek offers factory pretrated materials to facilitate their use and finish. The mud treatment consists of three steps: cleaning, waterproofing and finishing.
Work cleaning: It is crucial to eliminate cement and spots remains before any treatment.
Waterproofing: Outdoors it is not recommended, except in areas such as barbecues. Interior, it is essential to prevent spots. Hydrofugantes or oils can be used to reduce absorption.
Finishes: Apply waxes or oils according to the desired finish (mate, satin, brilliant). Colored waxes can give additional effects such as a dark leather finish.
*It is not a rectified material, this means that the measures can vary between 1 and 2 centimeters, since when manufacturing them, the measures of the joint in its final placement are taken into account.
