The chimney top is the part of the whole roof that ages worst. It takes rain from above, hot smoke from inside and ice in winter, and when it's finished with a concrete slab cut on site, it ends up cracked, soot-stained and chipped at the edge. The Ordesa range caps the flue with precast pieces in a stone finish available in three tones, Caliza, Champagne and Pirineos, giving a clean, long-lasting finish with not a single cut made on the roof.

🧰 Installation
Measure the outer section of the flue and choose the pillar piece that wraps it; the 45 × 45 cm cap tops the 40 × 40 cm piece.
Level the existing top with mortar to get a flat, horizontal surface for the first course.
Bed the pillar pieces with fine-joint mortar, checking plumb and level on every course.
Always keep the internal flue section clear: the pieces wrap the duct, they never narrow it.
Fit the cap centered, with an equal overhang on all four sides, and seal the perimeter joint.
Remove mortar residue from the visible face before it hardens; on a stone finish it won't come off afterwards.

💡 Professional tip: plan the number of courses on the ground before carrying anything up. Each pillar piece gives 20 cm of height plus the joint thickness, and the final height needs to come out as a multiple of that measurement: if you're half a piece short, there's no clean fix except cutting, and a cut piece breaks the texture right where it shows most. Also check that the mouth sits 1 m above the highest point within a 2 m radius — standard good practice in Spain — and use this cap to gain that height if you're short: it's much cheaper to add two courses now than to come back in a year because the house fills with smoke every time the north wind blows.
