Peñalara Coping 18 cm - Handrail at 2 Pieces per Linear Metre

Peñalara Coping 18 cm: what it is

It's the handrail that crowns the row of balusters in the Peñalara collection and turns it into one solid assembly. It measures 50 × 18 × 8 cm and is laid at 2 pieces per linear metre, so working out the order is straightforward. Its 13.5 cm inner recess fits over the head of the 13 × 13 cm baluster, giving a proper seat with nothing to trim on site.

✅ Key advantages

  • 2 pieces per linear metre: direct measuring and ordering, with no coefficients or conversions.
  • 13.5 cm recess: sits over the head of the 13 × 13 cm baluster and self-centres the row.
  • 18 cm wide: enough overhang for water to drain clear of the balusters below.
  • Ties the run together: links every piece at the top and stops the balusters tipping sideways.
  • 14.95 kg per piece: manageable by hand from a working platform.

🏗️ Recommended applications

  • Capping balustrades on enclosure walls.
  • Terrace, balcony and roof-terrace handrails.
  • Indoor and outdoor staircase railings.
  • Pool and plot enclosures.

🧰 Installation

  1. Wait until the row of balusters is plumb and the bedding mortar has set.
  2. Dry-lay the coping over the whole run and decide where the cuts fall, ideally next to a pillar rather than mid-run.
  3. Check that the dowel heads line up with the coping's holes.
  4. Bed each piece on bonding mortar spread over the whole contact surface.
  5. Line up the visible face with a taut string from end to end; the coping is the line seen from the street.
  6. Point the joints between pieces once the run has set.

📦 Available formats

  • Single unit, 50 × 18 × 8 cm.
  • Full pallet of 96 units.

💡 Professional tip: at 2 pieces per linear metre, a 7.30 m run won't come out to a round number, so a cut is needed. Decide in advance where that cut goes and place it next to a pillar, out of sight; leave it for the end and it lands mid-run and stands out. Always order 5% extra for cuts and for the odd chipped piece on unloading.
