Compact the ground and spread a 10-15 cm sub-base of crushed gravel.
Level a 3-4 cm bed of sand or mortar with a slope towards the drain.
Decide the pattern: running joints, staggered joints, or alternating the two colors.
Lay the planks, bedding them with a rubber mallet and checking the lengthwise alignment.
Leave a 3-5 mm joint between planks to imitate the look of wood decking.
Grout with silica sand and sweep off the excess.

💡 Professional tip: an 80 cm plank leaves very little room for misalignment: a millimeter off on the first row becomes a centimeter after ten planks, and it shows from the doorway. Run a string line for the first row and check it every three or four rows. And allow for 8% extra material for starting and finishing cuts.
