Bush-hammered concrete pool coping: the classic anti-slip edge
The coping is the piece of the whole pool that gets stepped on barefoot and wet the most, and where most slips happen. This coping solves the problem through texture rather than a surface treatment: bush-hammering exposes the marble aggregate and achieves a USRV of 74, class 3, a value that doesn't fade with use because it doesn't depend on any added layer that can wear away.

🧰 Installation
Dry-lay the entire perimeter before bonding anything and spread out the misalignment across several joints; never leave a cut piece narrower than a third at a visible corner.
Clean and dampen the pool coping surface; dry concrete draws the water out of the adhesive and leaves it unset.
Bed the pieces with a C2 tile adhesive rated for outdoor and immersion use, using double buttering, with a 1.5-2 cm overhang past the pool shell edge.
Give a slope of 1.5 to 2% toward the outside, so splash water drains toward the surround and not back into the pool.
Leave 3-5 mm joints between pieces and an elastic expansion joint every 4-5 linear metres and at every corner.
Grout with an outdoor-rated joint mortar and seal the continuous joint between the coping and the pool shell with polyurethane.

💡 Professional tip: pool coping is not a paving slab and isn't laid the same way. It works permanently wet with half its edge cantilevered over the pool shell, so it demands a C2 immersion-rated adhesive and double buttering; with ordinary tile adhesive, within two summers it starts sounding hollow and comes loose. Measure the actual pool perimeter and order 8 to 10% extra material: between corner cuts, transport breakage and shade variation between batches, running short forces you to mix batches and it shows at a glance. And don't forget the perimeter expansion joint: if you bond the rigid coping tight against the surround slab, summer thermal movement will crack it at its weakest point.
