Vetonek Plant Compost

Vetonek Vegetable Compost: mature organic matter for vegetable gardens and landscaping

Vetonek Vegetable Compost is an organic soil amendment obtained by composting plant residues and structural materials (bark and pruning waste). A controlled aerobic decomposition process results in a mature, stable, medium-grain compost, ready to be incorporated into the soil.

Produced next to our quarry in Navarra, it is the easiest way to bring life back to the soil: it improves structure, retains moisture, and activates microbial activity without resorting to chemical fertilizers.

Benefits

  • Provides organic matter and slow-release nutrients.
  • Improves soil structure: loosens heavy soils and adds body to sandy ones.
  • Retains moisture and reduces the need for irrigation.
  • Activates microbial life and promotes root development.
  • Ideal as mulch (mulching) in flower beds and under trees and shrubs.
  • Local product, made from recycled plant waste.

Recommended uses

  • Vegetable garden: preparing beds and enriching the soil before sowing or transplanting.
  • Garden: planting trees, shrubs, hedges, rose bushes, and ornamental plants.
  • Lawn: topdressing and improving poor or compacted soils.
  • Pots and planters: mixed with substrate or topsoil.
  • Mulching: 3–5 cm layer on the surface to conserve moisture and suppress weeds.

Suggested dosage

  • Base amendment: 5–10 liters per m², incorporated into the first 15–20 cm of soil.
  • Tree and shrub planting: mix with the fill soil from the hole in a 1:3 ratio.
  • Pots and planters: 20–30% compost in the mix.
  • Annual maintenance: 3–5 liters per m² in spring or autumn.

A 15 L bag covers approximately 1.5–3 m² as a base amendment. A 1,000 L big bag covers between 100 and 200 m².

Characteristics

  • Origin: composting of plant residues and structural materials (bark and pruning waste).
  • Particle size: medium grain.
  • Appearance: dark brown, forest-soil smell.
  • Formats: 15 L bag and 1,000 L big bag.

Usage tips

Water well after incorporating it into the soil. Store in a dry place protected from the sun. Natural product: color and texture may vary slightly between batches.
