Madroño Sleeper: a solid wood-look concrete sleeper
Reclaimed railway sleepers leach creosote, stain, and are restricted in private gardens. The Madroño Sleeper gives the same rustic look in solid concrete, in two lengths, 65 and 95 cm, and two tones, with no chemical treatments or risk of splinters.

🧰 Installation
Prepare an 8 to 10 cm compacted sub-base under the sleeper.
If laid flat as a step, level with sand and check the outward fall.
If set on edge, bury at least a third of the height and pack with mortar.
Alternate pieces from different pallets to spread out the grain variation.
Stagger the joints if laying more than one course.
Let it set before backfilling with soil or aggregate.

💡 Professional tip: if using these as steps on a slope, don't rest them directly on soil. Build an 8-10 cm compacted sub-base; as soon as it rains hard, a sleeper resting on soil works loose at one end and leaves a wobbly step, which is exactly what causes trips.
