Peñalara Baluster 40 cm - Solid Piece With No Reinforcement, Rust-Free

Peñalara Baluster 40 cm: what it is

It's a solid concrete baluster, 13 × 13 × 40 cm, for capping block, brick or stone walls without resorting to metal railings. It's made with no internal reinforcement, using high-compaction techniques: there's no steel inside to rust and split the piece after a few winters, which is the usual failure with reinforced balustrades.

✅ Key advantages

  • No internal reinforcement: nothing to rust, swell and crack the shaft from within; the piece ages with no rust stains.
  • High compaction: the concrete is pressed to a very dense mass, with fewer pores for rainwater to get in.
  • 7.3 kg per piece: light enough for a single worker to install a long run with no lifting gear.
  • A discreet 40 cm height: the lowest in the collection; it lets the view carry over the wall and works well for parapets and garden dividers.
  • Standard white finish: combines with the caps, pillar caps and wedges from the same collection with no need to match tone.

🏗️ Recommended applications

  • Capping plot enclosure walls.
  • Terrace parapets and low garden dividers.
  • Decorative balustrades at porches and entrances.
  • Ornamental dividers in landscaped areas and walkways.

🧰 Installation

  1. Check that the top of the wall is level and free of dust and mortar residue.
  2. Set out the axis of each baluster and mark the spacing: divide it up first and install after, so the last piece doesn't end up at half a gap.
  3. Drill and fit the galvanised dowel at the marked point; the dowel is what stops the shaft tipping sideways.
  4. Bed each baluster on a pat of bonding mortar, threading it onto the dowel through the lower hole.
  5. Plumb each piece and correct it before the mortar starts to grab.
  6. Fit the top cap as soon as the row is plumb, and point the joints at the end, once everything has set.

📦 Available formats

  • Single unit, 13 × 13 × 40 cm.
  • Full pallet of 98 units.

💡 Professional tip: divide up the spacing between centres before the first drill hole. The most common mistake is starting to install from one end and working across: by the time you reach the closing pillar, there's half a gap too much or too little, and there's no way to hide it. Also allow for 5% extra pieces: the caps need cutting at the joins, and there's always a loss.
