Double Flat Pillar Cap: what it is
The double flat pillar cap finishes and protects precast, stone or brick pillars. Its double-flat profile includes a drip edge on the underside that cuts off water before it reaches the pillar, the usual cause of stains and chipping on the top of piers.

🧰 Installation
Level and clean the top of the pillar; remove dust, mortar residue and any release-agent film.
Dry-fit the piece and centre the overhang evenly on all four sides: the drip edge only works if it projects past the pillar's face.
Apply concrete-precast adhesive in interior beads, leaving the edge strip free.
Bed it and check level in both directions; correct before the adhesive starts to grab.
Clean off any spillage while fresh and check that the drip-edge groove is completely clear.

💡 Professional tip: the most costly mistake with this cap is blocking the drip edge with spilled adhesive. If the groove gets clogged, water runs back down the pillar's face and within two winters a green streak appears. Run a finger along the whole groove before the adhesive sets and check it's clear on all four sides.
