🧰 Installation

  1. Set out the whole staircase and check that all treads come out equal.
  2. Clean the substrate and dampen it slightly before applying the mortar.
  3. Spread bonding mortar with a notched trowel.
  4. Bed the step from top to bottom, taking care not to knock the visible edge.
  5. Give a minimum 1% reverse slope towards the outside.
  6. Grout and remove the excess while it's still fresh.

💡 Professional tip: on a smooth piece, the visible edge is everything, and it's the first thing to chip. Never use it as a lever point when positioning the piece, and protect the edge with a wooden batten while you work around it: a knock from a wheelbarrow on the edge of a smooth step can't be disguised afterwards.
