🧰 Installation
Check the free opening of the skimmer frame before ordering: it must fit the 30 × 30 cm cover with 3-4 mm of clearance.
Clean any mortar residue and remnants of the previous cover off the frame; any lip will stop the piece sitting flat.
If the existing frame is plastic, leave the cover resting freely, not bonded: it must be liftable to empty the basket.
If bedded on mortar, use a C2 tile adhesive rated for outdoor and immersion use, leaving an elastic joint around the whole perimeter.
Check that the cover sits flush with the paving, with no lip to trip on.

💡 Professional tip: measure the actual frame opening before ordering the cover, not the figure the skimmer manufacturer states: frames set into a build often end up a couple of millimetres out of square, and a concrete cover can't be trimmed like a plastic one. And never bond it: some people bed it with tile adhesive thinking it will stay put, and then have to break it the first time the basket needs emptying. It should rest freely, with 3-4 mm of clearance per side for expansion and so it can be lifted with your fingers. If the skimmer runs on salt chlorination, rinse the cover with fresh water when closing up for the season; salt crystallises in the concrete's pores and leaves a white haze that's hard to remove afterward.
