Stone curbs or borders in the garden.

Slate curbs in the garden.

Slate curbs are perfect for separating areas in the garden, marking out perfect paths and walkways, creating flower beds around trees, or separating a stone paving from other areas such as garden lawn.

Unlike concrete, terracotta, or stone curbs, slate edging is non-porous, so it does not absorb dirt and retains its beautiful dark blackish-gray look, shiny when wet.

Installation of garden curbs or edging.

As they are straight curbs, it is best not to think about creating curved elements; design straight shapes, although curves can also be made, they should be wide curves.

To make an edging, the best thing is to mark the lines with a string and some stakes so that they can be placed perfectly. If you set the slate edging on a 2 to 4 cm bed of sand, it will allow you to settle them and adjust the height, as well as hide the small thickness imperfections of each piece. Let us not forget that it is natural stone; each piece is unique.

Garden fences made with slate curbs or stakes.

Another increasingly used application with very original aesthetic results is separation fences made with slate curbs or stakes placed vertically.

It is recommended to dig a small aligned trench where the slate stakes will be planted and secured with concrete or mortar.

For making fences, a 3 cm slate curb piece is used; they weigh less and are visually lighter.
