Mark out the line with a string and dig a trench about 15 cm deep.
Spread a dry-mix concrete or mortar base 8-10 cm deep at the bottom of the trench.
Bed the first course, tapping with a rubber mallet and leveling piece by piece.
If stacking, apply bonding mortar between courses and stagger the joints by half a piece.
Point the sides and let it cure before backfilling with soil.
Back-fill the rear face with compacted soil.

💡 Professional tip: at 4.5 cm thick this curb holds soil back perfectly well, but it isn't a retaining wall. If you're going to stack more than two courses, or the level change is over 40 cm, wet soil pressure will push it outward: in that case you need to stagger the joints and backfill the rear face well, or switch to a brick-built piece.
