Extra-Smooth Flat Pillar Cap - Polished-Feel Finish with Drip Edge

Extra-Smooth Flat Pillar Cap: what it is

The extra-smooth flat pillar cap is the flat-profile capping piece with an extra-smooth surface, designed for pillars with a contemporary look. It has a drip edge on the underside, so it effectively protects the pillar it's installed on without giving up a clean, straight line.

✅ Key advantages

  • Extra-smooth surface: an exposed face with no visible pore, well above the finish of a conventional precast piece.
  • Flat profile: a straight, horizontal edge, the natural choice for enclosures with modern lines.
  • Underside drip edge: protects the pillar by cutting off water running down its exposed face.
  • Solid piece: 19.5 kg per unit, with enough mass not to shift in the wind or from a heavy door being slammed.
  • Two colours: white and cement grey, two neutral tones that combine with almost any enclosure.

🏗️ Recommended applications

  • Capping enclosure pillars with straight lines.
  • Capping sliding and hinged gate piers.
  • Finishing buttresses in exposed-concrete walls.
  • Capping pillars at entrances and walkways.
  • Garden projects with a minimalist look.

📋 Technical data sheet

  • Material: high-quality concrete with a smooth finish.
  • Dimensions: 38 × 38 × 6 cm and 48 × 48 × 6 cm.
  • Weight per unit: 19.5 kg.
  • Profile: flat, with a drip edge on the underside.
  • Colours available: white and cement grey.
  • Units per pallet (38 × 38 × 6 cm): 16 units.
  • Units per pallet (48 × 48 × 6 cm): 28 units.
  • Companion piece: extra-smooth diamond-point pillar cap, same finish.

🧰 Installation

  1. Level and clean the top of the pillar; on such a smooth piece, any grain of grit left underneath will leave the cap unsteady.
  2. Dry-fit the piece and spread the overhang evenly on all four sides.
  3. Apply concrete-precast adhesive in interior beads, without reaching the edge.
  4. Bed it without striking with a metal mallet: use a wood block or a rubber mallet so as not to mark the exposed face.
  5. Check level in both directions and remove any adhesive spillage while fresh.
  6. Check that the drip-edge groove is clear all the way round.

📦 Available formats

  • 48 × 48 × 6 cm — white or cement grey — single unit or pallet of 28.
  • 38 × 38 × 6 cm — white or cement grey — single unit or pallet of 16.

💡 Professional tip: extra-smooth surfaces show every scuff, so don't rest them on edge on gravel or drag them across the pallet. Lift them onto the pillar horizontally and with two people: a poorly gripped 19.5 kg piece almost always ends up with a chipped corner, and on a smooth face there's no way to hide that chip.
