Bardenas natural stone crazy paving: the Ribera landscape in your garden
The Ribera of Navarre is a land of contrasts: vegetable gardens along the Ebro, the cierzo wind sweeping across the plain and, in the distance, the Bardenas Reales, a desert of clays and sandstones carved by wind and water over thousands of years. From that land, from a quarry in our area, comes the Bardenas crazy paving: irregular natural stone flags, each with its own outline, veining and texture.
It is used for paths that wind through the lawn, terraces with a village-house feel and walls that look as if they have always been there. No two pieces are alike, so no two projects are alike.

🛠️ How to lay it
- On sand or gravel (garden paths): dig out 10-15 cm, compact the ground, spread a layer of gravel and another of 3-5 cm of sand and bed each flag by tapping it with a rubber mallet. Fill the joints with sand, fine gravel or let the grass grow between the pieces.
- With mortar (terraces and walkways): on a concrete base with a 1-2 % fall for drainage, lay each piece on a mortar bed, level it and fill the joints with mortar or grout.
- On walls and façades: clean and dampen the surface, use an exterior tile adhesive for natural stone and start from the bottom.
- Tip: before fixing, dry-lay the pieces like a puzzle; combine large and small ones and mix pieces from different layers of the pallet.
📏 Thickness
The nominal thickness of the crazy paving is 2-3 cm. As it is hand-collected natural stone, in practice each piece can range from 1 to 4 cm. This is normal for this material: bear it in mind when preparing the base and levelling.
⚠️ Pallet coverage
The 25 m² per pallet is calculated for a standard installation with 4 to 5 cm joints between pieces. If you lay the stone with very narrow joints or no joints, it will cover less: order 15 to 20 % more area so you don't run short.
🚚 Delivery
Sold by full pallet only. Unloading is done by a truck with a tail lift at street level, at the kerb: make sure there is a firm, level access area. Read the delivery conditions before placing your order.
🪨 Natural stone: every pallet is unique. Size, shape, thickness and tone vary from piece to piece and from the photos, which are for guidance only. Mix pieces from different layers of the pallet when laying to spread colours and shapes. It is the signature of an authentic material, not a defect.

Sí. Es piedra natural pensada para exterior: caminos, terrazas, patios y accesos.
¿Todas las piezas son del mismo color?
No exactamente: es piedra natural y cada pieza tiene su matiz. Mezcla piezas de distintas capas del palet al colocar para un resultado homogéneo.
¿Necesita mantenimiento?
Muy poco. Basta con limpiarla con agua y jabón neutro. Si quieres, puedes aplicar un hidrofugante transpirable para facilitar la limpieza.
¿Cómo se entrega?
En camión con plataforma elevadora, a pie de calle en la línea de acera. Necesitas una zona de acceso firme y plana. Consulta las condiciones de entrega antes de comprar.
