Lattice Guide Coping: the piece that starts and tops the wall
A lattice wall goes crooked if the first course isn't guided, and chips if the last one is left exposed. This 45 × 12 × 4 cm piece solves both: it has a running groove that the edge of the lattice fits into, so at the bottom it acts as a starter guide and at the top as a coping.

🧰 Installation
Prepare the base. The wall it rests on must be capped with wall coping, smooth, clean and level. Let it stand for 24 hours before you start.
Wet the pieces. Soak both the guide copings and the lattice panels in water for about 10 minutes before installing, so they don't draw water out of the mortar.
Lay the bottom guide. Bed the coping with the groove facing up, checking level and alignment with a straightedge along the whole run. Use the 5 cm or the 8 cm version depending on the lattice you're installing.
Build up the panel. Install the lattice course by course, keeping level and plumb and leaving joints of 3 to 5 mm with plastic spacers.
Cap the wall. Finish with another course of coping, this time with the groove facing down, hugging the top edge of the last lattice course.
Cure and protect. After 8 hours, dampen the work and repeat for 2 days; then let it dry for a further 48 hours. Fill and clean the joints and apply a water repellent. No acidic products or high-pressure water.

💡 Professional tip: before ordering, measure the actual thickness of your lattice and order the matching guide. It's the most common mistake: buying the 5 cm-groove version for 8 cm lattice, and it won't fit, or the other way round, fitting the 8 cm version under 5 cm lattice, where the piece rattles in the groove, has to be packed out with mortar, and the wall ends up misaligned. Second point: don't fit the lattice bone-dry against the guide. Keep the 3-5 mm joint with plastic spacers, because concrete expands with heat and a panel with no joint cracks at its weakest point. And order 5% extra pieces for trimming the ends.
