Velilla 587 healthcare scrub top: white, short-sleeved and in nine sizes
The classic white top of the healthcare scrub suit, in 190 g/m² polyester-cotton twill. Short sleeves, V-neck, side vents and three patch pockets. Its strong point is the size range: nine sizes, from 2XS to 4XL, the widest range of any top in the catalogue. It is sold on its own: the price is for the top only, not the full scrub suit. If you are looking for long sleeves, the reference is 588.
✅ Features
Nine sizes, from 2XS to 4XL: covers everything from very small to very large builds with a single reference, which simplifies kitting out an entire workforce.
Short sleeves: the standard in healthcare, because hand hygiene protocol requires forearms to be bare below the elbow.
V-neck: goes on and off over the head without dragging the hair, and leaves the stethoscope area free.
Side vents: give room when bending down and stop the garment riding up over the hips.
Three patch pockets: enough capacity for the ward notebook, mobile phone and markers.
65/35 twill with no finishes: nothing that degrades in an industrial tunnel washer. It is the top that best withstands a harsh process.
👷 Suitable for
Hospitals, health centres and private practices.
Dental clinics, physiotherapy and podiatry.
Veterinary clinics and dog grooming.
Professional cleaning services and institutional settings.
Beauty centres, spas and wellness resorts.
Care homes and home help.

🧺 Care
Wash at 60 °C. With no elastane or chemical finishes, it withstands the industrial cycle well.
The 65% polyester provides good dimensional stability: it shrinks very little.
Tumble dry and iron at medium temperature.
For white, use a chlorine-free optical brightener. Bleach yellows polyester irreversibly.
Suitable for industrial laundering.
💡 Tip: This is the top to choose when washing is done by an external laundry rather than by the wearer. It has no elastane, no antibacterial treatment and no repellent finish: nothing that can degrade in a tunnel washer. Tops with added performance (535207 in microfibre, 535206S stretch) are better garments while their finishes last, but in an aggressive process this one outlasts them and works out cheaper per year of use.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the trousers included?
No. The 587 is the top only. The trousers are sold separately; the 333 shares the same fabric and weight. If you want the complete set in a single purchase, reference 800 does include top and trousers.
How does it differ from the 588?
Only in the sleeves: the 588 has long sleeves and ranges from XS to 3XL. This 587 has short sleeves and goes up to 4XL and down to 2XS.
Why short sleeves?
Because hand hygiene protocol in healthcare requires forearms to be bare below the elbow.
Does it withstand industrial washing at 90 degrees?
The manufacturer specifies 60 °C. As it has no elastane or finishes, it is one of the garments that best withstands a harsh cycle, but the white suffers above 60 °C.
Can it be autoclave sterilised?
No. The polyester-cotton blend is not approved for autoclaving; steam at 121-134 °C degrades the synthetic fibre.
Can I use bleach to keep it white?
No. Chlorine yellows white polyester irreversibly. Use a chlorine-free optical brightener.
What size should I order?
By chest measurement, not by trouser size. In most teams the top and bottom sizes do not match.
