Padded jacket for cold stores

Velilla 256002 padded jacket: the jacket for those who go into the cold store

This is the cold-weather version of the food industry jacket: it is lined and filled with 150 g/m² padding and certified to UNE-EN 14058, the standard for protective clothing against cool environments above −5 °C. It still fastens with concealed press studs, because the food safety requirement doesn't disappear inside the cold store.

✅ Features

  • Padded and lined: 150 g/m² 100% polyester filling and 100% polyester lining.
  • Certified to UNE-EN 14058: protective clothing against cool environments (work above −5 °C).
  • Concealed press-stud fastening: no visible buttons over the product.
  • Elastic at the sides of the waist: closes the hem and stops cold air rising up the back.
  • Ribbed cuffs: seal the wrist, which is where most heat is lost during handling.
  • Inner left chest pocket: on the inside, not exposed to the line.

👷 Suitable for

  • Cold stores and refrigerated rooms in the food industry.
  • Cutting rooms and cold packing.
  • Loading docks for chilled products.
  • Food distribution warehouses with cold areas.
  • Restocking and order picking of fresh products in supermarkets.

🧺 Care

  • Inner label: Velilla does not publish the wash cycle for this reference; follow the symbols sewn into the garment.
  • Drying: as it is padded, it takes considerably longer than an unlined jacket. It is advisable to have a spare per worker.
  • Do not iron over the padding: direct heat flattens the filling and removes the insulating power the garment is bought for.

💡 Tip: EN 14058 is not the freezer standard. It covers cool environments above −5 °C; for a freezer room at −18 °C or −22 °C you need equipment certified to EN 342. And if it is going to be worn over a coat or jacket, go up a size: the waist elastic adjusts, but the ribbed cuffs won't accommodate a thick sleeve underneath.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it suitable for a freezer room?

No. UNE-EN 14058 covers cool environments above -5 C. For freezing at -18 C or -22 C you need equipment certified to EN 342.

What is the difference from the 256001?

The 256001 is lined but has no filling or cold-protection certification. The 256002 adds 150 g/m2 filling and the EN 14058 standard.

Does it have visible buttons?

No, it fastens with concealed press studs.

What is inside?

A 100% polyester lining and 150 g/m2 100% polyester filling.

What size should I choose if I wear it over a work coat?

Go up a size: the ribbed cuffs won't accommodate a thick sleeve underneath.

Can it be ironed?

Not over the padding: direct heat flattens the filling and reduces its insulating power.

How long does it take to dry?

Considerably longer than an unlined jacket; it is advisable to have a spare per worker.
