Class 2 high-visibility mesh vest

Velilla 14001 high-visibility mesh vest: the essential for site visits and construction

The classic vest, in 100 g/m² mesh so it does not feel hot over your workwear. The key point: this is not just any vest, it is certified to EN ISO 20471 class 2, which is what allows it to be used as PPE rather than a merely decorative garment.

✅ Features

  • EN ISO 20471 class 2 certification: the intermediate level of the standard, suitable for construction and industry with vehicle traffic.
  • 100 g/m² mesh fabric: breathable and adds no warmth over workwear.
  • Centre hook-and-loop fastening: goes on in a second and adjusts to any amount of clothing underneath.
  • Reflective tapes around the torso.
  • Two generous sizes: MED (equivalent to M-L) and LAR (equivalent to XL-2XL).

👷 Suitable for

  • Site and plant visits.
  • Warehouses and logistics hubs with forklifts.
  • Access control, car parks and events.
  • Vehicle kits and company emergency kits.
  • Occasional visibility boost over non-certified clothing.

🧺 Care

  • Follow the sewn-in label: the manufacturer's data sheet does not publish the washing table.
  • Count the washes: EN ISO 20471 requires the label to state the maximum number of cycles the certification withstands. With an inexpensive vest the temptation is not to keep count, but the rule is the same as for any PPE.
  • Close the hook-and-loop fastening before washing: the hook side catching on the mesh frays it.

💡 Tip: A vest worn over clothing sets the visibility level of the outfit, because it is the visible garment. That is why this class 2 14001 can raise a worker wearing non-certified clothing to that level. What it does not do is reach class 3: the surface area of a vest is not enough. If the work is on an open road, a full garment is needed (overalls, or trousers and jacket certified as a set).

Frequently Asked Questions

What high-visibility class does it have?

Class 2 of EN ISO 20471, version 2013+A1:2016. It is not a decorative vest; it is certified PPE.

What sizes are MED and LAR?

They are generous sizes: MED corresponds roughly to M-L and LAR to XL-2XL. With its hook-and-loop fastening, it adapts to the amount of clothing worn underneath.

Can I wear it over non-certified workwear?

Yes. The vest is the visible garment, so it is what provides the visibility of the outfit. That is why a class 2 vest raises whoever wears it to class 2.

Is it suitable for roads at night?

No. That scenario requires class 3, and the surface area of a vest does not reach that level.

Is it hot to wear?

It is 100 g/m² mesh, the lightest fabric in the high-visibility range, designed precisely not to add warmth.

How should it be washed?

The data sheet does not publish the washing table. It is best to close the hook-and-loop fastening before putting it in the washing machine so the hook side does not fray the mesh.
