GRS waterproof padded jacket EN 343

Velilla 206035 V.Dynamix GRS padded jacket

It is the most complete technical garment in the range and the only one with GRS certification. It has three layers of recycled polyester — a 180 g/m² outer with 50% GRS, a 55 g/m² taffeta lining in 100% GRS and 180 g/m² padding in 100% GRS —, heat-sealed seams, water-repellent stretch fabric and EN 343 (3/1/X) and EN 13758-2 UPF 50+ certification.

♻️ What GRS certification is and why it matters

GRS stands for Global Recycled Standard, an independent international certification that verifies, through third-party audits, that the declared recycled material really is recycled and can be traced throughout the entire supply chain. It also audits social and environmental criteria at the factories involved.

This is not marketing: in public tenders and corporate purchasing with sustainability criteria, a GRS certificate is valid supporting documentation, whereas saying «made with recycled materials» without a certificate proves nothing. If your tender scores recycled content, this is the garment in the range that can back it up.

Note: GRS should not be confused with 4-Xtreme, which is neither a fabric nor a certification, but Velilla's own commercial range.

✅ Features

  • EN 343 (3/1/X): standard for protection against rain. The data sheet declares waterproofing class 3 and breathability class 1.
  • EN 13758-2 UPF 50+: protection against the sun's ultraviolet radiation, useful when working outdoors.
  • Water-repellent stretch fabric and heat-sealed seams against moisture.
  • Hood concealed inside the collar, with adjustable drawcord and stoppers.
  • Reflective details and reflective zip pullers for greater visibility.
  • Zipped opening on the back designed specifically to make screen printing easier.
  • Concealed ribbed cuffs with hook-and-loop and adjustable hem with stoppers.
  • Five pockets, including one inner zipped pocket.

🧺 Care

  • Machine wash on a gentle cycle at low temperature, with zips closed.
  • No fabric softener: it cancels out the water-repellent finish.
  • Do not iron over the heat-sealed seams or the reflective details.
  • Air dry, shaking the garment to redistribute the padding.

💡 Tip: The water-repellent finish on an EN 343 garment wears off with washing — it is not a defect, it is how it works. When you notice water no longer beads and runs off but soaks into the fabric, the garment is still waterproof thanks to the membrane and seams, but it gets wet on the outside and feels heavy. It can be restored with an inexpensive DWR reproofing spray. What cannot be restored is the finish if you have used fabric softener: that destroys it permanently.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is GRS certification?

Global Recycled Standard, an independent international certification that verifies through third-party audits that the declared recycled material really is recycled and can be traced throughout the entire supply chain.

Why does GRS matter in a public tender?

Because it provides documentary proof of recycled content. Saying a garment contains recycled materials without a certificate proves nothing.

Is GRS the same as 4-Xtreme?

No. 4-Xtreme is Velilla's own commercial range, not a fabric or a certification.

What does EN 343 3/1/X mean?

It is the standard for protection against rain. The data sheet declares waterproofing class 3 and breathability class 1.

What is UPF 50+?

Protection against ultraviolet radiation according to EN 13758-2, useful when working outdoors.

Why is there a zip on the back?

To make it easier to screen print the company logo.

Can I use fabric softener?

No. It permanently destroys the water-repellent finish.
