Flame-retardant antistatic cotton coverall

Velilla 602003 flame-retardant antistatic coverall: category III PPE for work involving flames and welding arcs

One-piece coverall in 270 g/m² treated cotton twill with antistatic fibre, certified to EN ISO 11612 (A1 B1 C1 F1), EN ISO 11611 class 1 A1 and EN 1149-5. This is protective clothing: you choose it for what the certificate says, not for how it looks.

✅ Features

  • Protection against heat and flame: certified to EN ISO 11612 with performance levels A1 (limited flame spread, surface ignition), B1 (convective heat), C1 (radiant heat) and F1 (contact with molten metal splash).
  • Suitable for welding: EN ISO 11611 class 1 A1, the level intended for welding techniques that generate few spatters.
  • Antistatic: EN 1149-5, thanks to the 3% antistatic fibre built into the fabric; it dissipates charge in atmospheres where a spark is the hazard.
  • Two-way zip concealed under a placket: the metal of the zip is not exposed to spatter.
  • Five pockets: one chest pocket, two lower pockets, one on the right leg and one on the back, all patch pockets.
  • Elasticated waist and cuffs, hook-and-loop adjustable leg hems and double safety seams.

👷 Suitable for

  • Welding and allied processes within the scope of class 1 of EN ISO 11611.
  • Chemical and petrochemical industry with antistatic requirements.
  • Foundry work and handling of hot metal, within level F1.
  • Industrial maintenance in areas with a flame hazard.
  • Construction and industrial assembly involving hot work.

📋 Technical data

🧺 Care

  • Always follow the label: on category III PPE, the wash cycle is part of the certification. Washing outside the instructions may invalidate the protection.
  • No fabric softener: it leaves a film on the fibre that degrades antistatic and flame-retardant performance.
  • No bleach or chlorinated stain removers: they attack the cotton treatment.
  • Inspect before each use: a tear, a burn or an open seam puts the garment out of service; it must not be patched with just any fabric.

💡 Tip: read the codes, not the word «flame-retardant». Class 1 of EN ISO 11611 is the lower welding level: it is suitable for welding with little spatter, not for overhead work or high-emission techniques, which require class 2. And F1 covers contact with molten metal splash, but this coverall is not certified against electric arc (IEC 61482): if your risk assessment calls for arc protection, this is not the garment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which standards does it meet?

EN ISO 11612 (A1 B1 C1 F1), EN ISO 11611 class 1 A1, EN 1149-5 and EN ISO 13688.

Is it suitable for electric arc?

No. This reference is not certified to IEC 61482.

What does class 1 in EN ISO 11611 mean?

It is the lower welding level: it is suitable for techniques that generate little spatter, not for overhead work or high-emission techniques, which require class 2.

What is it made of?

Twill, 97% cotton - 3% antistatic fibre, 270 g/m².

Can it be washed at home?

Follow the label strictly: on category III PPE, the wash cycle is part of the certification.

Can I use fabric softener?

No: it leaves a film that degrades antistatic and flame-retardant performance. No bleach or chlorinated stain removers either.

What should I do if it tears or gets burnt?

It is out of service: it must not be patched with just any fabric.
