Difference between calcium lime (calcium carbonate) and calcium quicklime (calcium oxide)
Quicklime, or calcium oxide, is calcium carbonate calcined at more than 1,200 degrees, which removes the water particles and results in a product that is much more reactive than carbonate, with a calcium concentration of up to 70% and therefore an acidity-neutralizing capacity up to 2.5 times higher. Quicklime is a more complicated material to use since it is corrosive and, if misused, can ruin crops; it is recommended not to use it unless we know very well what we are doing.
