Excavate and compact 10–15 cm of crushed stone sub-base.
Confine the perimeter with a curb or edging.
Spread a leveled 3–4 cm sand bed.
Lay in a staggered joint pattern following the layout; on curves, slightly open the outer joints.
Compact with a protected plate compactor and sweep fine sand into the joints.
