Urbión Cladding - Lightweight, Waterproof Facing for Walls

Urbión Cladding: lightweight, waterproof facing in earthy tones

Cladding a façade with traditional natural stone is heavy, expensive and often requires reinforcing the substrate before you can even begin. Urbión Cladding solves this with a slab just 1.5 cm thick, waterproof and with a smooth finish, that fits onto any sound wall without compromising its structure.

✅ Key advantages

  • Genuinely lightweight: at 1.5 cm thick it can be applied with no structural reinforcement or thickening of the wall.
  • Waterproof: keeps water from entering the wall surface and preserves the cladding's look outdoors.
  • Smooth finish: a continuous, understated surface, very different from a rustic layout, ideal for contemporary projects.
  • Earthy tones: two finishes, Pirineos and Natural, that age well and never tire the eye.
  • Large format: 59 × 30 cm of visible face, fewer joints per square meter and faster installation.
  • Indoor and outdoor: the same piece for a façade, a garden wall or a living-room wall.

🏗️ Recommended applications

  • Home façades and exterior plinths
  • Boundary walls and garden fences
  • Living room, entrance hall and hallway walls
  • Commercial premises and high-traffic areas
  • Low walls for porches, terraces and pool areas
  • Façade renovation where weight is a limiting factor

🧰 Installation

  1. Check the substrate is flat, sound and clean: with large, smooth pieces, any bulge in the wall shows immediately.
  2. Set out the first course with a laser level and start on a well-leveled batten or support profile.
  3. Apply exterior-grade tile adhesive with a notched trowel and use double buttering: also spread a thin layer on the back of the slab.
  4. Lay from bottom to top using spacers to keep the joint constant, and tap with a rubber mallet until the piece is bedded.
  5. Grout with exterior joint mortar once the adhesive has cured and clean with a damp sponge before it hardens.
  6. Respect the substrate's expansion joints and seal junctions with window and door frames using flexible sealant.

📦 Available formats

💡 Professional tip: with large, smooth-finish formats, the enemy is the substrate, not the piece. Run a 2 m straightedge over the wall before starting: if you find more than 5 mm of deviation, level it out with repair mortar rather than trying to correct it with more adhesive, because excess adhesive dries at a different rate and ends up showing at the joint or even causing the slab to come loose.
