🧰 Installation
Cast a perfectly level footing: on a tongue-and-groove pillar, an error in the base can't be corrected later.
Bed the first piece on fresh mortar and check level, plumb and square.
Fit the following pieces into the tongue-and-groove joint, without forcing them or striking them on an edge.
Thread the reinforcement through the central void as the pillar goes up.
Fill with flowing concrete in lifts of three or four courses and clean off any spillage while fresh.
Cap it with a pillar cap with a drip edge to protect the top.

💡 Professional tip: the tongue-and-groove joint doesn't tolerate dirty pieces. A bit of dried mortar left in the groove lifts the course half a centimetre, and that half a centimetre multiplied by ten courses leaves the pillar five centimetres taller than the one next to it. Clean the joint with the trowel before bedding each piece and check the height every three courses against the neighbouring pillar.
