The Bellota workshop wrenches range includes open-end, combination, ring, socket, adjustable, Allen, Torx and ratchet socket wrenches in chrome vanadium steel, for tightening and loosening fasteners in mechanics, assembly and plumbing.

Types of workshop wrenches

  • Open-end and combination wrenches: the Bellota 6400 double open-end wrench and the 6410 combination wrench, with an open end and a ring end, forged in chrome vanadium steel. Sets in a clip or textile pouch are also available.
  • Offset ring and box wrenches: offset ring wrenches and hexagonal box wrenches; the 6441 hollow box wrenches and the 6495BS set are designed for plumbing.
  • Adjustable wrenches and Stillson: centre-wheel models (6460), side-wheel models with a protected worm screw (6464) and wide-opening models (26461), plus the 6600 Stillson pipe wrench with hardened jaws for plumbing.
  • Allen and Torx: individual hex keys, folding Allen key sets, ball-end sets and a set of long tamper-resistant Torx keys; for example, the 6458-9N set of 9 Allen keys in a clip.
  • Sockets and ratchets: hexagonal socket with a 1/2-inch drive, extension bar, universal joint, sliding T-handle, the 6528 reversible ratchet with 72 teeth and the 26592H108 108-piece set in a case.

How to choose your wrenches

  • Start with a combination wrench: an open end and a ring end of the same size cover most jobs.
  • For heavy tightening, use a ring or box wrench, which grips the nut all the way round.
  • Pick the profile to suit the fastener: metric hexagon, Allen (internal hexagon) or Torx.
  • If you need several sizes, a set in a clip, pouch or case is usually better value than single wrenches; singles are handy for topping up.
  • For varying sizes or plumbing, complete the workshop with an adjustable wrench or a Stillson.

What is the difference between an open-end wrench and a combination wrench?

A combination wrench has an open end and a ring end of the same size, while a double open-end wrench has two open ends of different sizes. With the combination wrench you can break a nut loose with the ring and finish quickly with the open end.

When should I use a ring wrench?

Use a ring wrench when you need to tighten or loosen with force, because it surrounds the whole nut and is less likely to slip. An open-end wrench is better when you can only reach the nut from the side.

What is a socket wrench with ratchet used for?

It is used to tighten or loosen bolts and nuts without lifting the tool off at every turn. The Bellota 6528 reversible ratchet has 72 teeth and a quick release, and works with sockets, extension bar and 1/2-inch universal joint.

Which wrenches do I need for plumbing?

What is the difference between an Allen key and a Torx key?
