100% cotton Italian-style work coverall

Velilla 208 100% cotton work coverall

It is the 214 Italian-style coverall in pure cotton: same construction — asymmetric two-way zip closure, raglan sleeves, five pockets — but in 100% cotton twill, 180 g/m². It is chosen for two specific reasons: because it breathes better when working in the heat and because cotton doesn't melt when hit by a spark, whereas polyester does.

✅ Features

  • 100% cotton, 180 g/m²: absorbs moisture and doesn't feel sticky when you sweat.
  • Asymmetric central closure with two-way zip: opens from the top and from the bottom.
  • Raglan sleeves: no shoulder seam, more freedom of arm movement.
  • Elasticated waistband and ribbed cuffs that keep dust out.
  • Double safety stitching throughout the garment.
  • Five pockets: one chest pocket with zip, two lower patch pockets, one back pocket and one tool pocket on the right leg.
  • Three colours and sizes from 48 to 72.

👷 Suitable for

  • Workshops with angle grinders, bench grinders or light welding.
  • Blacksmithing, locksmithing and boilermaking.
  • Work with radiant heat: furnaces, foundries, food industry with ovens.
  • Agriculture and livestock farming in summer.
  • Staff with skin sensitive to synthetic fibres.

🧺 Care

  • Machine wash at 40°. Above that, cotton shrinks.
  • Needs ironing: pure cotton creases considerably more than the 65/35 blend.
  • Avoid the tumble dryer, which is where it shrinks the most.
  • Dry in the air and in the shade.

💡 Tip: Being cotton does not make it a flame-retardant coverall. Cotton doesn't melt or stick to the skin like polyester, which is why it is preferable near sparks, but it burns just the same. If the job involves a real thermal risk — welding, foundry work, electric arc — you need a coverall with certified flame-retardant treatment according to EN ISO 11612 or EN ISO 11611, and this one doesn't have it. Choose the size by chest measurement, not by waist, and go up one if it will be worn over warm clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it a flame-retardant coverall?

No. Cotton doesn't melt when hit by a spark like polyester does, but it burns just the same. For a real thermal risk you need EN ISO 11612 or EN ISO 11611.

Why choose cotton over the 214 coverall?

Because it breathes better in the heat and doesn't stick to the skin when hit by a spark.

What is the fabric weight?

180 g/m2, compared with the 200 g/m2 of the 65/35 twill of the 214 coverall.

How do I choose the size?

By chest measurement, not by trouser waist, and going up one size if it will be worn over warm clothing.

Does it shrink?

Yes, a little, as it is pure cotton. Wash at 40 degrees and avoid the tumble dryer.

Does it crease?

Considerably more than the 65/35 blend. It needs ironing.

What colours does it come in?

Navy blue, grey and royal blue, in sizes 48 to 72.
