Uni Paver: the self-locking wavy paving stone

The Uni Paver (the UNI-BOR range from Adybor) is not a rectangle: it is a wavy bone-shaped paving stone, whose side faces fit together. This mechanical interlock means that the pavement does not shift even when vehicles brake, accelerate, or turn on it. That is why it is the paving stone used for parking lots, roundabouts, and access roads, while the Senda Paver is the classic rectangular one for walkways and patios.

  • Self-locking: the bone-shaped profile interlocks piece by piece and distributes loads across the whole surface, not to a single paving stone.
  • Does not open up under braking: this is the real difference compared with a rectangular paving stone in areas of braking, turning, and starting off.

🧠 Installation

  1. Excavate the bed and compact the natural ground, leaving the drainage slope already formed from below.
  2. Spread and compact a 15-20 cm base of crushed aggregate for pedestrian use, and 25-30 cm if there will be vehicular traffic.
  3. Lay a 3-5 cm bedding sand layer, leveled with a straightedge and not compacted.
  4. Place the pavers by fitting the wavy profile piece by piece, starting from a straight edge and mixing several pallets at once.
  5. Restrict the perimeter with a curb or concrete edging: without it, the Uni interlock loses its effect at the ends.
  6. Sweep silica sand into the joints, run the vibrating plate with a rubber mat, and repeat the sand sweeping a few days later.

💡 Professional tip: ask for 5-7% extra material for cuts and edge pieces, and buy it all at once: a pallet ordered months later rarely matches in color. During installation, mix pieces from three or four pallets to distribute the shades and avoid a blotchy floor. And choose the thickness according to traffic, not price: 6 cm is for pedestrians and light cars; as soon as loaded vans or trucks start using it, 8 cm on well-compacted crushed stone. In braking and turning areas, the Uni will perform much better than a rectangular paver.
