Velilla 539010 unisex microfibre lab coat: the lightest, antibacterial and repellent
The white microfibre coat from the healthcare range. Only 140 g/m², the lightest in the lab coat catalogue, with antibacterial and liquid-repellent treatment. Shirt collar, press-stud fastening, three pockets and reinforced back seams. It shares its fabric with the 533007 microfibre scrubs and the 535207 scrub top.
✅ Features
Antibacterial treatment: the finish slows bacterial growth between washes, which means less odour at the end of a long shift.
Liquid-repellent: watery splashes run off instead of soaking in immediately. It gives you time to step away, although it is not a certified healthcare barrier.
Only 140 g/m²: seventy grams less than the 539001 twill coat. You notice it in summer, on wards with high heating and when the coat is worn over another garment.
Press studs: it opens with a single pull in case of a spill or splash.
Shirt collar: the classic collar with lapel, more formal than the mandarin collar of the 539006S.
Reinforced back seams and rear vent.
Three patch pockets.
👷 Suitable for
Medical practices, health centres and dental clinics.
Veterinary clinics and dog grooming, where the repellent finish helps with water and fluids.
Pharmacies, parapharmacies and opticians.
Analysis laboratories.
Beauty centres, spas and wellness resorts.
Care homes.

Wash at 60 °C. Dries very quickly and needs hardly any ironing.

Do not use chlorine bleach: it damages the treatment and yellows the white.
Iron at low temperature; polyester becomes shiny under a hot iron.
Suitable for industrial laundering at 60 °C.
💡 Tip: This coat is not suitable for working near a flame, a hot plate or any source of sparks. It is 100% polyester, and polyester melts and sticks to the skin, making the burn worse. For a laboratory with a burner, a bakery with an oven or a workshop, the right coat is the 539005 in 100% cotton. Microfibre shines in consulting rooms, veterinary practices, pharmacies and beauty centres.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it suitable for a laboratory with a burner or a bakery with an oven?
No. It is 100% polyester, and polyester melts and sticks to the skin when exposed to a spark or radiant heat, making the burn worse. For those environments the right coat is the 539005 in 100% cotton.
What does liquid-repellent mean?
That watery splashes run off instead of soaking in instantly, which gives you time to step away and change. It is not a certified healthcare barrier against biological agents.
Why should I not use fabric softener?
Because it leaves a film that saturates the fabric and cancels out the repellent effect. It is the most common reason customers say the fabric has stopped repelling.
Is it cooler than the other lab coats?
Yes, by far. At 140 g/m² compared with the 190 or 210 of the twill coats, it is the lightest in the catalogue and the quickest to dry.
Can it withstand industrial washing at 90 degrees?
The manufacturer specifies 60 °C. At 90 °C the fibre holds up, but the antibacterial and repellent finishes are lost much sooner.
Can it be sterilised in an autoclave?
No. Polyester microfibre is not approved for autoclaving.
How does it differ from the 539006S stretch coat?
That one has a mandarin collar, elastane and 190 g/m². This one has a shirt collar, does not stretch and weighs much less, but has antibacterial and repellent treatment.
