Ochánduri Block - Formwork Block for Reinforced Walls

Ochánduri Block: the reinforced wall without renting formwork

For a structural retaining wall, the expensive part isn't the concrete: it's the formwork. The Ochánduri Block is a 30 × 20 × 40 cm permanent formwork block: you dry-stack it, run the vertical and horizontal rebar through its cavities and fill it with concrete. The block itself acts as both formwork and finished face, with no panels and no stripping.

✅ Key advantages

  • No formwork: the block is dry-stacked and stays in place: savings on rental, assembly and stripping.
  • Structural wall: vertical and horizontal reinforcement through the cavities and concrete fill: real retention strength.
  • 30 cm thick: a depth designed for retaining walls and residential basements.
  • Fast progress: 12.5 pieces per m², laid without mortar between courses.
  • Full pallet at a better price: 50 units (4 m² of wall).

🏗️ Recommended applications

  • Structural retaining walls
  • Basement and semi-basement walls
  • Swimming pools and site tanks
  • Heavy-duty enclosure walls

📋 Technical specifications

  • Material: vibro-pressed concrete, hollow formwork block
  • Dimensions: 30 × 20 × 40 cm
  • Weight per piece: 17.5 kg (empty)
  • Pieces per m²: 12.5
  • Pallet: 50 units = 4 m² (≈ 900 kg)
  • Color: Grey
  • Use: outdoor, structural

🧰 Installation

  1. Build the footing with the vertical starter bars already embedded as per the design calculations.
  2. Dry-stack the blocks in a staggered bond, threaded onto the starter bars.
  3. Place the horizontal reinforcement in each course as specified in the project.
  4. Fill with fluid concrete in lifts of 3-4 courses, vibrating lightly.
  5. For retaining walls, waterproof and drain the back face before backfilling with soil.

💡 Professional tip: a reinforced wall is a structure: the rebar diameter and spacing and the maximum height are defined by the project or a qualified engineer, not by habit. The block saves you the formwork, not the calculations.

Frequently Asked Questions
