Oñati insulating clay block

Single-leaf walls with high thermal efficiency

The Oñati thermoceramic block by Vetonek is a low-density ceramic unit for building single-leaf walls with high thermal efficiency, as an alternative to multi-layer walls. It simplifies the building envelope into a single layer of masonry and is designed for builders and self-builders.

✅ Advantages

  • Single leaf: one single wall replaces the multi-layer solution and simplifies construction.
  • Low density: units weighing from 6.4 to 13.9 kg, easy to handle for their size.
  • 17.5 pcs/m²: few units per m² thanks to the 30 x 19 cm format.
  • ECO range with higher insulation: 30 x 29.5 x 19 and 24 x 24 x 19 cm formats.
  • CE marking: technical data sheet with thermal values available on request.

🏗️ Applications

  • Exterior enclosure walls.
  • Load-bearing walls.
  • Separating walls.

📋 Technical data

  • Standard range, 30 cm long x 19 cm high: widths of 14.2 cm (6.4 kg), 19.2 cm (8.5 kg), 23.2 cm (10.4 kg) and 28.5 cm (12.3 kg).
  • ECO range: 30 x 29.5 x 19 cm (13.9 kg) and 24 x 24 x 19 cm (9.1 kg).
  • Coverage: 17.5 pcs/m² for the 30 cm long formats.
  • Material: low-density ceramic, red colour.

🧮 How much do I need?

For 40 m² of wall with the 19.2 cm width: 40 × 17.5 = 700 pcs. This equals 9 pallets of 75 pcs (675 pcs) plus 1 pack of 37 pcs, 712 pcs in total with a small margin.

📦 Sales formats

  • 14.2 cm: pack of 45 pcs (2.57 m²) or pallet of 90 pcs (5.14 m²).
  • 19.2 cm: pack of 37 pcs (2.11 m²) or pallet of 75 pcs (4.29 m²).
  • 23.2 cm: pack of 30 pcs (1.71 m²) or pallet of 60 pcs (3.43 m²).
  • 28.5 cm and ECO 29.5 cm: pack of 22 pcs (1.26 m²) or pallet of 45 pcs (2.57 m²).
  • ECO 24 x 24 x 19 cm: pack of 40 pcs or pallet of 80 pcs.
  • Pallets weighing up to 1,000 kg, delivered by truck.

🧰 Installation

  1. Set out the wall and check that the foundation or floor slab is clean and level.
  2. Lay the first course on a perfectly level mortar bed.
  3. Place the blocks with mortar, staggering the vertical joints.
  4. Check plumb and level on every course.
  5. Make cuts with a disc cutter and follow the project specifications at lintels and junctions.

💡 Vetonek Tip: choose the width according to the project and request the technical data sheet before buying: with the thermal values at hand, it is easier to justify the building envelope and to decide between the standard and the ECO range.
