Granitic paving: the classic washed-aggregate floor
Granitic paving, also called washed aggregate paving, is a concrete slab whose top face is washed before it fully sets to expose the aggregate. That exposed stone is what gives it its grip underfoot and what lets it withstand decades of sun, rain and foot traffic without showing wear. It is the classic paving for sidewalks, patios and pool surrounds.

Black costs a little more: it uses more expensive aggregate and pigment than the other colors.
Same price per square meter, different pallet price: the 40x40 pallet holds 17.92 m² and the 50x50 pallet holds 12.00 m²; that's why they don't cost the same — it's not a change in rate, it's that they don't contain the same area.
Pallets: the 40x40 pallet is charged at 14 €/unit and refunded at 13 €/unit when returned in good condition; the 50x50 pallet is non-returnable.
The range also includes other granitic slab formats. Not all colors are made in all formats: the store only shows the combinations supplied by the manufacturer.
🧰 Installation
Prepare and compact the base and leave a drainage slope of 1-2% toward the drain or away from the house. Without a slope, water stays on the surface.
Over a concrete slab, spread exterior-grade tile adhesive with a notched trowel. Over soil, lay a 3-5 cm bed of bedding mortar, leveled carefully with a straightedge.
Lay out a full row dry before gluing anything, to adjust the layout and decide where the cuts will fall: always against the edges, never in the center.
Set the pieces with a rubber mallet and check the level with a long straightedge every two or three slabs.
Leave a 3-5 mm joint between pieces. Concrete expands with heat and, if laid butted tight, it chips at the edges.
Grout after 24-48 hours with exterior mortar and remove any residue before it sets on the aggregate: on a washed aggregate surface, grout that dries inside the grain is very hard to remove.
💡 Professional tip: with washed aggregate, what ruins the job is almost always the grouting, not the laying. Work in small sections, clean with a damp sponge before the mortar starts to set and don't let it dry on top of the grain. And order 5-7% extra material in a single order: the aggregate varies in shade between batches, and topping up with half a pallet six months later won't match. During installation, open three or four pallets at the same time and mix the pieces, or the floor will end up patchy.
