Moncayo Slab: the concrete slab for walkways, terraces, and access areas
Adybor’s Moncayo Slab is a large-format concrete slab for paving outdoor areas with few joints and quick installation. It is made in four formats and, above all, in two thicknesses that are not interchangeable: 5 cm is strictly for pedestrian use, and 8 cm is the one that allows light vehicle traffic. That is the decision you need to make before looking at the price, because a 5 cm slab laid where a car parks will break.

🧰 Installation
First decide the thickness: if a car will pass through the area, even occasionally, choose 8 cm. The 5 cm version is only for walking on.
Excavate and compact the subgrade, and lay a 15-20 cm base of crushed aggregate (20-25 cm if vehicle traffic will pass).
Spread a 3-5 cm bedding sand layer, leveled with screeds and not compacted; the slab is then adjusted with a rubber mallet.
Place the pieces leaving a 3-5 mm joint and check flatness every few rows with a straightedge and level, creating a 1-2% slope so water drains away.
Sweep dry silica sand into all the joints until they are filled and remove the excess.
If the area will carry wheeled traffic, finish with a vibrating plate with a rubber pad and sweep sand again; with the 5 cm thickness, setting with a mallet is enough.

💡 Professional tip: the expensive mistake with this family is thickness. The 3 cm difference between the 5 cm and 8 cm Moncayo is barely noticeable once installed, but it completely changes what it can withstand: 5 cm is for walking on, and 8 cm is for letting the car into the garage. If in doubt, go with the 8 cm. And order 5-7% extra material: with large-format slabs, every cut renders half a piece unusable, and the finishing pieces use up more than you’d think. One last note: open two or three pallets at a time and mix them, because the colored concrete varies slightly in shade from one batch to another, and in 60x40 pieces that difference is much more noticeable than in a small paver.
