Microfibre healthcare scrub trousers
Microfibre healthcare scrub trousers
Velilla 533007 microfibre healthcare scrub trousers: lightweight, antibacterial and repellent
The microfibre version of the healthcare scrub trousers. It weighs just 140 g/m² and the fabric has an antibacterial and liquid-repellent treatment, two things you notice over a long shift and in a practice where fluids get spilled. Sold separately: the tunic is not included. The matching tunic, in the same fabric and the same eleven colours, is reference 535207.
✅ Features
- Antibacterial treatment: the fabric finish slows bacterial growth between washes, reducing odour at the end of a twelve-hour shift.
- Liquid-repellent: water-based splashes run off instead of soaking in immediately. It does not turn the garment into a healthcare barrier, but it gives you time to step away and change.
- Elasticated waist with adjustment ties: unlike the 333 model, this one can be tightened or loosened by hand, which is practical when the garment is shared across shifts or when the wearer's size changes.
- Four pockets: three slanted side pockets plus one back pocket, enough for scissors, phone and ID card.
- Just 140 g/m²: the lightest in the Velilla scrubs range, the logical choice for wards with high heating or for summer.
- Eleven colours: a modern palette (emerald green, bay sky blue, bougainvillea, ocean blue, mandarin...) to colour-code departments or give the clinic a brand image.
👷 Suitable for
- Hospitals and health centres, especially on warm wards.
- Dental clinics, physiotherapy, podiatry and opticians.
- Veterinary clinics and dog grooming, where the repellent finish helps with water and fluids.
- Beauty centres, spas and thermal spas.
- Pharmacies, orthopaedic shops and testing laboratories.
- Care homes and home care.

🧺 Care
- Wash at 60 °C. 100% polyester dries very quickly and barely needs ironing.
- Do not use fabric softener: it saturates the fabric and reduces the effectiveness of the repellent finish.
- Do not use chlorine bleach; it damages the treatment and yellows light shades.
- Iron at a low temperature. Polyester glazes under a hot iron.
- Suitable for industrial laundry on a standard 60 °C cycle.
💡 Tip: If your garments are washed by a contracted laundry, explicitly ask them not to add fabric softener. It is the most common mistake with treated microfibre garments: after twenty cycles with softener the repellency stops working and the customer thinks they were sold an ordinary fabric. Without softener, the finish lasts many more washes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it come with the tunic?
No. 533007 is the trousers only. The matching tunic, in microfibre and in the same eleven colours, is reference 535207 and is sold separately.
What does liquid-repellent mean?
That the fabric finish makes water-based splashes run off instead of soaking in instantly. It gives you time to step away and change, but it is not a certified healthcare barrier: it does not replace a protective gown against biological agents.
Can it withstand industrial washing at 90 degrees?
The manufacturer specifies 60 °C. At 60 °C it is perfect for industrial laundry. At 90 °C the polyester isn't destroyed, but the antibacterial and repellent treatments degrade much faster, so you lose exactly what you paid for.
Can it go in an autoclave?
No. Polyester microfibre is not approved for autoclave sterilisation; steam at 121-134 °C deforms the fibre. For operating theatres, specific sterile garments must be used.
Why shouldn't I use fabric softener?
Because softener leaves a greasy film that saturates the fabric and cancels out the repellent effect. It is the most frequent reason a customer says the fabric stopped repelling.
Is it cooler than the cotton or twill scrubs?
Yes. At 140 g/m² compared with the 190 g/m² of the twill and cotton versions, it is noticeably lighter and dries much sooner.
How does it differ from the 533006S stretch scrubs?
The stretch version has 4% elastane and 190 g/m²: it offers stretch and more body. The microfibre isn't stretchy, but it weighs less, dries faster and has the antibacterial and repellent treatments.
