Velilla 159 and 160 reflective trousers: two references and two levels of protection
Pay attention, because this is the most important thing in this listing: this product covers two different Velilla references, and they do not offer the same protection. The plain colours are reference 159, enhanced visibility according to EN 17353 class B2. The fluorescent colours are reference 160, and that one is certified high visibility according to EN ISO 20471 class 1. Choose the colour according to the standard required by your risk assessment.
✅ What you get depending on the colour you choose
- Navy blue, green, grey and royal blue → reference 159: enhanced visibility EN 17353 class B2, for medium-risk situations. Twill 65% polyester - 35% cotton, 200 g/m², with six pockets.
- Fluorescent yellow and fluorescent orange → reference 160: high visibility EN ISO 20471 class 1 and EN ISO 13688. Twill in 80% polyester - 20% cotton, 210 g/m², in yellow and 60% cotton - 40% polyester, 240 g/m², in orange, with four pockets, one of them a tool pocket on the right leg.
- Retroreflective tapes at the hem on both references: they return headlight beams to the driver.
- Elastic waistband with darts and rear safety seam on both.

🧺 Care
- Machine wash following the label of each reference.
- The reflective tape degrades with washing: check that it is not cracked or peeling; if it is, the garment no longer meets the standard.
- On reference 160 the number of washes is limited: the high-visibility certification is valid as long as the fluorescent and reflective materials keep their values; check the label.
- Do not use bleach or fabric softener on the tape. Iron without passing over the reflective material.
💡 Tip: don't choose the colour for looks, choose it by the standard. If the risk assessment requires EN ISO 20471, only fluorescent yellow and fluorescent orange are valid, which are reference 160. If the enhanced visibility of EN 17353 for medium risk is enough, any of the four plain colours of the 159 complies, and it is more discreet and cheaper to maintain. And bear in mind that EN ISO 20471 class 1 is the lowest of the three levels: for open roads or night work the specification usually requires class 2 or 3.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are there two references in the same product?
Because Velilla sells the plain model as reference 159 and the fluorescent model as reference 160, and they do not have the same certification.
Which one is high visibility?
Only the fluorescent colours, which are reference 160, certified to EN ISO 20471 class 1.
And the plain colours?
They are reference 159, certified to EN 17353 class B2 for enhanced visibility in medium-risk situations, which is not equivalent to high visibility.
Is class 1 suitable for road work?
Class 1 is the lowest level of EN ISO 20471; for open roads or night work, specifications usually require class 2 or 3.
Do they have the same pockets?
No. The 159 has six and the 160 has four, one of them a tool pocket.
Is it the same fabric?
No. The 159 is 65/35 twill at 200 g/m2; the 160 varies according to the fluorescent colour.
How long does the certification last?
As long as the fluorescent and reflective materials keep their values; there is a maximum number of washes stated on the label.
