Medinaceli Pool Coping - Minimalist L-Shaped Design
Medinaceli Pool Coping - Minimalist L-Shaped Design
Medinaceli Pool Coping: an L-profile that hides what the build left crooked
On a fibreglass pool or a renovated shell, the join between the edge and the paving is almost never clean. The Medinaceli coping has a 6 cm L-shaped skirt that drops down the outer face of the pool shell and hides those imperfections with no need to build up or chase anything out.
✅ Key advantages
- 6 cm L-profile: the skirt covers the pool shell's edge and disguises leans, burrs and badly cut liner trims.
- Minimalist line: a straight edge and a smooth, plain surface, with no relief or imitation texture, for contemporary projects.
- Compatible with fibreglass pools: designed for prefabricated shells, where the edge won't take a conventional bearing coping.
- Slip-resistant, USRV 46, class 3: despite the smooth finish, it keeps the class required in wet outdoor areas.
- 14 kg per piece: comfortable to handle, even in the long 60 cm format.
- Two neutral tones: white and pirineos, which don't compete with the colour of the water.
🏗️ Recommended applications
- Capping fibreglass pools and prefabricated shells.
- Renovating pool edges with a damaged outer face.
- Renovating terraces and outdoor patios with a water feature.
- Contemporary-design pools with a straight line and smooth finish.
- Capping ornamental ponds with an exposed edge.

🧰 Installation
- Check the actual thickness of the pool shell's edge: the 6 cm skirt has to hang free, with no contact, or the piece won't sit flat.
- Chase off any resin or mortar burrs on the outer face before laying the first piece.
- Bed with a C2 cement-based adhesive rated for outdoor and immersion use, double-buttered, also bonding the inner face of the skirt.
- Keep a 1.5-2% fall towards the outside along the whole perimeter.
- Leave a 3-5 mm joint between pieces and an elastic expansion joint every 4-5 m and at the corners.
- Seal the lower line of the skirt with polyurethane so water can't get in behind it.

💡 Professional tip: the L-shaped skirt is both this piece's strength and its trap. Before buying, measure the pool shell's edge thickness at several points: if any stretch exceeds what the skirt clears, the piece will end up bearing on the skirt instead of the crown and will sound hollow. Bond the inner face of the skirt too, not just the base: if it's left hollow, water gets in there, freezes in winter and pops the 3 cm edge. And seal the lower line with polyurethane, because water that gets in behind the skirt has nowhere to drain and ends up pushing the coping off. Remember this isn't a paving slab: it works wet, in overhang and with a thin edge, so neither the adhesive nor the expansion joint are optional.
Frequently Asked Questions
