Sikaflex® PRO-3 Purform® - Polyurethane Sealant for Floor Joints

Sikaflex® PRO-3 Purform®: elastic polyurethane sealant for floor joints

Sikaflex® PRO-3 Purform® is Sika's one-component polyurethane sealant designed specifically for horizontal joints subject to traffic: industrial floors, car parks, warehouses and pedestrian areas. It cures with ambient moisture and forms a highly elastic bead with 90% recovery, able to absorb joint movement without losing adhesion or puncture resistance.

It incorporates Sika's Purform® technology, which reduces diisocyanate monomer content and improves the safety and sustainability profile of the product compared with conventional polyurethanes.

✅ Key advantages

  • Very high movement capability: ±25% according to ISO 9047, ±35% according to EN 14188-2 and ±50% according to ASTM C 719.
  • Class 35 HM (ISO 11600): high-modulus sealant, the standard for floor joints subject to movement.
  • 90% elastic recovery and 800% elongation at break: the joint returns to its position after every cycle.
  • Shore A hardness ~40, harder than a façade sealant, to withstand the passage of forklifts and vehicles.
  • Wide joints: suitable for widths up to 40 mm, compared with the usual 35 mm.
  • Can be applied from 0 °C ambient and substrate temperature, which extends the working window in winter.
  • Very low emissions: EMICODE EC1PLUS (GEV), suitable for indoor use and clean rooms.
  • Good chemical resistance to water, wastewater, lime, cements and diluted detergents.

🏗️ Recommended applications

  • Industrial floors and logistics warehouses with forklift traffic.
  • Car parks and vehicle ramps.
  • Clean rooms and areas with low-emission requirements.
  • Water treatment plants, channels and tanks.
  • Tunnels and underground civil works.
  • Pedestrian areas, sidewalks and paved squares.

📋 Technical specifications

  • Chemical base: one-component polyurethane with Purform® technology, moisture-cured.
  • Colors: concrete grey and white.
  • Density: ~1.30 kg/l (ISO 1183-1).
  • Shore A hardness: ~40 at 28 days.
  • Elongation at break: ~800% (ISO 37).
  • Elastic recovery: ~90% (ISO 7389).
  • Tensile modulus: ~0.65 N/mm² at 100% elongation (+23 °C).
  • Tear resistance: ~9.0 N/mm (ISO 34).
  • Movement capability: ±25% (ISO 9047) · ±35% (EN 14188-2) · ±50% (ASTM C 719).
  • Skin time: ~50 minutes (+23 °C / 50% R.H.).
  • Curing speed: ~3.5 mm in 24 h; 80% of final hardness after 2 days.
  • Application temperature: product from +5 °C to +40 °C; ambient and substrate from 0 °C to +40 °C.
  • Shelf life: 15 months from date of manufacture, stored between +5 °C and +25 °C.

📐 Joint design

  • Width: minimum 10 mm, maximum 40 mm.
  • Width:depth ratio: approximately 1:0.8 (20 mm joint → 16 mm depth).
  • Backing material required: closed-cell polyethylene backer rod to prevent adhesion on the third side.
  • Approximate coverage with a 600 ml foil pack: 10×8 mm joint ≈ 7.5 m · 15×12 mm ≈ 3.3 m · 20×16 mm ≈ 1.9 m · 30×24 mm ≈ 0.8 m · 40×32 mm ≈ 0.5 m.

🧰 Directions for use

  1. The substrate must be clean, sound and free of dust, laitance, grease and curing compound residues.
  2. Primer according to substrate: Sika® Primer-3 N or Sika® Primer-215 on concrete, stone and asphalt; Sika® Aktivator-205 on metals; Sika® Primer-215 on PVC.
  3. Insert the backer rod at the correct depth and, if a clean finish is required, apply masking tape along the edges.
  4. Extrude the foil pack with a sausage gun, filling from the bottom and without trapping air.
  5. Tool before skin formation (~50 min) with Sika® Tooling Agent N and remove the tape while the sealant is still fresh.
  6. Do not allow traffic on the joint until sufficiently cured: approximately 3.5 mm of cured thickness for every 24 hours.

🛡️ Standards and certificates

  • EN 15651-4:2012 — sealant for pedestrian walkways: F EXT-INT CC 25 HM.
  • ISO 11600:2002 — class 35 HM F (high modulus).
  • ASTM C 920-18 — Type S, Grade NS.
  • GEV EMICODE EC1PLUS — very low emissions.

📦 Supply formats

  • 600 ml foil pack — box of 20 units.
  • Colors: concrete grey and white.

💡 Professional tip: don't confuse PRO-3 with Sikaflex®-11 FC. The 11 FC is low-modulus and works well on façades and window and door joinery; the PRO-3 is high-modulus (35 HM) and is designed for floors, where the joint is subjected to concentrated wheel loads. If you seal a floor joint with a façade product, the bead sinks and gets punctured within a few months.

Frequently asked questions about Sika products (mortars, adhesives and sealants)

How do I know which size and quantity to buy?

Each product page includes the approximate yield or consumption (for example kg/m² or metres of bead per cartridge) in the "Technical specifications" section. Calculate the surface area or thickness of your project and multiply by that consumption to find out how many units you need. If in doubt, contact us with the measurements of your job.

Where can I find the complete technical data sheet (Product Data Sheet)?

The description of each product already includes the main technical data (strengths, setting times, application temperature, applicable standards, etc.), taken from the official Sika Spain Product Data Sheet. If you need the complete PDF data sheet or the safety data sheet (SDS), write to us and we will send it to you.

Do these products comply with European regulations (CE marking)?

Most Sika products carry the CE marking in accordance with the relevant European standard (for example EN 1504 for structural repair, EN 12004 for tile adhesives, EN 13888 for grouts or EN 15651 for sealants). The exact standard for each reference is detailed in the "Standards and certificates" section of its product page.

What protective equipment do I need to apply them?

It depends on the product: cement-based mortars and adhesives are usually irritating to skin and eyes (gloves, goggles and a mask are recommended), while polyurethane sealants and adhesives require good ventilation. Always check the safety section of the product page and its safety data sheet (SDS) before use.

How should I store these products and how long do they last unopened?

Shelf life and storage conditions (temperature, humidity, protection from light) vary depending on the type of product (cementitious, polyurethane, epoxy, etc.) and are stated on the packaging and in the data sheet of each reference. In general, it is advisable to store in a dry place, protected from frost and direct sunlight.

Can I return a Sika product if I haven't used it?

Yes, you have 14 calendar days from receipt to exercise your right of withdrawal, provided the product is in its original packaging and has not been opened. The cost of return shipping is borne by the customer. Contact us at info@vetonek.com or via WhatsApp on +34 629 571 735.

How long does my order take to arrive?

We ship to mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands, Portugal and the other European countries we serve (France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, etc.). The estimated delivery time is 3 to 9 working days (no shipping to the Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla).
