Your site hoarding is already paid for. Why isn't it working for you?
Do the maths on an average job. Site fencing means eight, ten, fifteen welded mesh panels of 3.5 × 2 metres sitting on concrete feet. They are hired or bought, they go up, and they will be there for six months, a year, sometimes longer. Each of those panels takes up seven square metres at street level, at eye height for everyone walking past.
And they are blank.
It is the only advertising space a construction firm has already paid for and almost never uses. A billboard that size on any street in your town runs to several hundred euros a month. You have got ten of them, free, right in front of the job you are running — which is exactly where a potential customer can see your work while they read your phone number.
That is why we have launched two new products: custom printed banners for site fencing and rigid site signs. Both with the design included, because the problem is never wanting the sign, it is having nobody to lay it out for you.
Who walks past your site
It is worth stopping to think about, because this is not just any traffic.
The people who walk past a site live in the area. Neighbours two hundred metres away who, a year from now, will be redoing a kitchen, glazing in a balcony or restoring their building's facade. The chair of the residents' association next door, with a quote still to request. Other trades. And every single day, the client who already hired you, seeing that their job looks well run.
That audience is not the audience of a roadside billboard. It is smaller, yes, but it is geographically concentrated exactly where you work and it is already warmed up: it is watching you work. The site is the proof, the banner is the business card.
There is a side effect construction firms underestimate: a site fenced with printed banners looks like a serious site. It hides the unavoidable mess of a plot, cuts the dust blowing onto the pavement and signals a company that keeps a grip on what it does. That is worth money on the next quote you put in on that same street.
Microperforated mesh: why any old banner will not do
This is where a lot of people get it wrong, and it is worth spelling out.
The temptation is to order a solid PVC banner, which is cheaper and looks bolder. On site fencing that is a mistake, and it can end in an accident. A 3.5 × 2 m panel clad in solid material turns into a seven-square-metre sail. On the concrete feet normally used, one strong gust puts the fence over. And a site fence flat on the pavement — or on a car — is a serious problem.
The industry's answer is microperforated mesh: a PVC fabric with thousands of microscopic perforations that let the air through but not the image. Up close you can see the holes; from three metres your logo reads perfectly. The wind passes through it instead of pushing it.
Our banners are 260 g/m² microperforated mesh, a weight chosen to survive months outdoors without fraying or fading.
The size, which is not a minor detail either
Banners come in 340 × 190 cm. That is not a round number by accident: it is the size that covers a standard 3.5 × 2 m panel with a few centimetres of margin all the way round. That margin is what lets the cable ties bite on the fence mesh rather than on the edge of the banner, which is where it always tears.
Every banner has a reinforced hem right around the perimeter and 20 aluminium-zinc metal eyelets, roughly one every 50 cm on all four sides. Twenty fixing points sounds like a lot until you have watched a four-eyelet banner flapping in January: it rips at the eyelet, every time.
Hanging one is a job for two people and a few minutes, with cable ties. And when the job finishes, you take it down, fold it and take it to the next one. The same banner covers several jobs, which is what makes the cost per month of exposure almost laughable.
Rigid signs: for what the banner does not cover
Banners are for large surfaces. But every site has places that need something rigid and smaller: the site cabin, the entrance, the fence gate, a facade, a show home.
That is what the 3.5 mm fluted polypropylene signs are for. It is the material that has pushed rigid PVC and metal out of site signage, for one simple reason: it weighs next to nothing, it does not rust, rain does not bother it and it does not snap when you bend it the way foamed PVC does.
They come in three sizes: 70 × 50, 100 × 70 and 150 × 100 cm, with or without eyelets. With eyelets — four polycarbonate ones in the corners — to cable-tie onto a fence or a mesh panel. Without eyelets, to screw or bond straight onto a surface.
The typical uses are more varied than you would think:
- The statutory site notice, the project information board listing developer, contractor and site management. Many local authorities require it to stay visible for the whole build, in a set format and with specific details, so check with yours exactly what it asks for before you order.
- Safety and access signage: PPE required, no entry, vehicle access.
- Property marketing: FOR SALE, TO LET, SHOW HOME, with a big phone number.
- Branding on cabins and welfare units, which end up in every photo of the site.
The design is included, and that is the part that matters
This is the real reason most site fences are still bare. It is not the price of the banner. It is that someone has to lay it out, and in a construction firm nobody has the time or the patience to wrestle with a high-resolution file.
So we do it for you:
- You place the order and send us your logo and whatever you want it to say: phone, website, strapline, brand colours, anything.
- Our team designs the banner or the sign and sends you a digital proof. You look it over, ask for changes if you need them, and approve it.
- We print it and ship it. Indicative lead time is 10 to 15 working days from the moment you sign off the design.
No design cost, no artwork fee, no "send us vector artwork at 300 dpi". You send us the logo and that is it.
What to put on the banner (free advice)
We will be quick about this because we see the same mistake over and over: a site banner is not a brochure. It gets read from ten metres away, from a car or on foot, in two seconds.
Three elements and you are covered:
- Your logo, big. Big enough to actually own the space.
- What you do, in three or four words. "Full home renovations". "Groundworks and structures". "Facade restoration".
- A huge phone number. Bigger than feels reasonable. It is the only action you want to trigger.
And not much else. The website if it fits. No paragraphs, no lists of services, no tiny QR code. White space is what makes the phone number readable from the opposite pavement.
The packs, and why they add up
Both products are sold in packs, and the unit price drops sharply as the quantity goes up. It makes sense: the design and the print set-up happen once, whether we print five banners or fifty.
340 × 190 cm microperforated mesh banners, in packs of 5, 10, 25 and 50. On the largest pack the price per banner comes down to around €171, against €215 on the pack of 5. If you have fencing across several sites, or you are a fence hire company looking to offer the service to your customers, that is where the saving is.
Rigid signs, in packs of 10, 25, 50 and 100, in all three sizes and with or without eyelets. A 70 × 50 cm sign without eyelets works out at around €30 on the pack of 100.
Every unit in a pack carries the same design. If you need to combine several different designs in one order, that is possible: we quote it separately.
If you need something else, we will make it
The catalogue sizes cover the most common case, which is standard site fencing. But not everything is standard site fencing.
We also print to measure: banners for tube-framed mobile fencing, for scaffolding, for a full facade; other materials — 500 g/m² solid banner when you really do want to block the view, canvas-style fabric when you are after a more textile finish; eyelets in the corners only or with elastic tensioners; sewn pockets to take a tube or a rope. And in signs, anything from 40 × 30 up to 200 × 100 cm, circular formats, standard signage formats, and protective varnish if the sign is going to spend years in full sun.
Both product pages have a custom quote form. Fill in the dimensions, the quantity and what you need, and we come back to you with a price within 24-48 working hours.
In short
Your site is already visible. It is already on a street people walk down every day. You have already paid for the fencing. All that is missing is for that fencing to say who you are.
A well-placed banner pays for itself with a single quote that comes out of it. And it lasts several jobs.
