Bonding and Preparation Materials

A wall is only as strong as the material that joins its pieces. In this section you will find:

  • Mortars and Cements: Mixtures with high adhesion and mechanical resistance, ideal for erecting load-bearing or dividing walls.

  • Construction Sands: Selected aggregates with controlled particle size to obtain homogeneous, workable mortar mixtures.

Frequently asked questions

What materials do I need to build a block wall?

You need the blocks, the bonding material and the finishing pieces. The collection includes items such as the Bloque Bellver and the smooth-faced Pilar Bellver, bagged cement, mortar premix, construction sands and finishing pieces such as pillar caps and wall copings. The foundation and any structural calculation must be defined by the project technician.

How do I finish a wall and its pillars?

With a wall coping on top of the wall and a pillar cap on each pillar. The data sheet of the white concrete wall coping presents it as protection for the top of the wall against water seepage, and the Pilar Bellver data sheet lists two compatible finishes, a flat pillar cap or a diamond-point one, both with a drip edge.

What is the difference between a retaining block and a formwork block for a reinforced wall?

A retaining block, such as the Muro Cellorigo (10 × 25 × 50 cm), is laid in courses and is intended for low walls, planters and terraced beds, whereas the Bloque Ochánduri (30 × 20 × 40 cm) is a permanent formwork block that is reinforced and filled with concrete for structural walls. The calculation of a retaining wall must be done by the project technician.

What pillar section do I need?

It depends on what the pillar has to support. The Pilar Bellver is offered in sections of 22.5, 30 and 40 cm, and its data sheet states that the section is adjusted to the actual weight it has to bear; the decision rests with the project technician.

What options are there for pointing or cladding a wall?

For the joints there is a cementitious grout, SikaCeram-650 Classic for joints of 1 to 6 mm, and 0-1 mm yellow sand for pointing. To clad a wall, the collection includes natural stone masonry, such as the Mampostería de Arenisca Duna Olite Dorado.
